I went to work today to teach Dance. When I arrived I spoke with the manager and we talked about how business was going. She mentioned that they offer free tutoring sessions to all the tenants but no one shows up. I was floored. I couldn’t understand how a parent wouldn’t take an opportunity for free tutoring for their kid. I don’t live in the community let alone the city and I would take my kid.
No one showed up for my Baby Ballet but a woman showed up for my Adult Dance Workout class. It turns out that my new student is the tutor for the elementary school kids. We began talking about the tutoring sessions. She told me that the only students she had in her class was her son and another little boy that went religiously. I explained to her that as a mother I couldn’t understand how parents weren’t taking advantage of free tutoring from a certified teacher. I told her I would take advantage of such a service and my child is a straight A student.
She invited my daughter to come to the sessions to work with her and though we live thirty minutes away in the neighboring city I will drive her to the partake in the two hour tutoring sessions with her to work on her subjects and topics of weakness. It is good for children to learn from different people.
We both in talking figured that the reason parents weren’t taking advantage of this free service, when tutoring can be a costly assist for your kids, is because parents in certain demographics don’t care as much about their kids getting a stealer education and or they are to lazy to walk them over to the clubhouse which is in the community feet away from their apartments.
If you had the opportunity to give your children the gift of free two hour every other week tutoring from a certified teacher would you take advantage of it?
