IT’S FRIDAY!!!!!!!!! YAY!!!!!!!! Friday’s in my house are super busy days. Friday is the day that I teach Piano the most, so we need to make sure that we are on top of things when it comes to school. Normally! This Friday is a little different because my first student canceled and my last student came yesterday so I only have one student to teach today.
9:45am Fridays should be a fairly easy school day. We started with our Math as usual. I had to make an important phone call and I noticed that my child was taking advantage of the opportunity and began to stall. Ugh! I can already see how this day is going to go. Once I got off the phone I sat with her and hustled her along. We got Math dealt with and got English underway. More stalling! This kid is killing me. “Push through” I think to myself. I take a breath and I hustle her along. Done! Now to Religion. Review questions! That’s pretty easy to get through with her. Done! Moving right along.
11:38am My favorite tiny human asked me could she take a break and I looked at her and told her firmly that she wasted so much time that she couldn’t take a break. She accepted that and we moved right into looking for maps of New Orleans, the Mississippi River and all the Catholic Churches in New Orleans. It was a fun little History project. I taught her how to use Google. She really likes being given independent jobs to do. I think for a field trip we should drive around and visit some of the Catholic Churches I grew up in. I think she would like that. She, like her momma, loves Catholic Churches. Once we finished our History searches we moved into taking her Spelling test. As I suspected she got a B- instead of an A+. She learned a lesson and I have a feeling she will focus more this week coming. Phonics was done fairly quickly and she disappeared before I could even catch her dust behind her.
1:00pm I made something for lunch and went over to the couch to get some work done on the computer.
3:16pm My Piano student showed up early and we plowed into a 45 minute Piano lesson.
4:16pm I headed to the kitchen to start dinner. I call Harmonie into the kitchen to help me. I decided tonight was a good night to cook together and teach her something new. So we made chicken and rice. Once we got everything on the stove and going I sat down to start correcting all of the school work from the week and recording her grades. I got a phone call from a friend who asked could she and my god-daughter come over to wait out the traffic. We haven’t seen each other in awhile so it would be great to hang out.
5:45pm They arrived and we all had dinner together. When we were done I popped in The Croads for the girls. What a funny movie.
7:15pm We walked them out and headed back in the house to get ready for bed.
12:00am I got as much work done as I could and I’m off to bed. Our first week is done and I must say in my opinion it was a smashing success. U feel so blessed to have this great opportunity to home school my child. I had no idea how much of a blessing it would be. It isn’t always easy but I promise it is so rewarding. I started this blog because a mom on another blog said she couldn’t find a blog that talked about the real deal for moms who are struggling without help and making it work. I hope this blog serves you all well and feels that gap for you all. There is so much more fun to come. May we all help each other and inspire each other.
Have a great weekend from our house to yours.
How did your first week back to school go? Did it go the way you planned it or did it get derailed? I’s like to hear all about it.
