Well hello there! How’s your first week back going? Today was a better day than yesterday and yesterday, though I wasn’t feeling my best, was a pretty good day.
8:37am I woke up and found my little darling watching TV quietly in the living room. I told her she had thirty minutes then needed to turn off the TV and get to school work. I then turned right back around and went to bed. I needed the extra half hour to get myself to feel better.
9:14am I woke up and rolled out of bed. I went and told Harmonie to turn off the TV and get to school. She started on her Spanish and I started my coffee. I washed the dishes and then sat down to start with her.
9:45am Harmonie says the Serenity prayer and we get going. Math, English and Religion got underway and it went fairly quickly. The kid is focused and on the go.
10:50am Harmonie is off to recess and I start writing my blog post for yesterdays school day. I realize as I write because I haven’t had much sleep my memory is fuzzy. Pretty sad that you can’t remember what happened the day before immediately.
11:05am Harmonie is back and she is working on Reading Comprehension on her own. She worked through it with no complaints and appeared to do in a good amount of time. Next she does a maps assignment. These assignments she likes to do because they are pictures and just figuring out what direction are different places on the map. We take a Spelling Pre-Test and she missed 4 out of 20 words. I told her earlier in the week to focus more on the words. She is great at Spelling. Every Spelling test she took in the first quarter was an A+ except her final test. That was a B-. I think it was the amount of words and some she hadn’t seen in awhile. Who knows. Handwriting was practicing writing H’s. She was pretty excited about that. So she didn’t hesitate to get that page done. Phonics I got no complaints and she finished and started dancing around.
12:00pm I make lunch
12:25pm All done with school and she couldn’t be happier. We had a discussion and a little math problem showing her how long her school day was today and she was so excited to see that she finished in 3 hours and 10 minutes she started doing a happy dance around the dining room.
12:30pm I finish writing the blog and run off to take a shower.
1:00pm I sit down to finish the blog by posting the pictures and proof reading as much as I can.
1:15pm Harmonie ask me to take her to the corner store. I promised her the night before if she finished school in a timely manner and was a good student I would take her to the store to spend her dollar. So we walked to the store.
1:30pm I sit down to proof read the blog but don’t get very far because we had to leave to go look at an apartment.
2:30pm We get back home from going to see the apartment. The apartment was perfect for us but unfortunately the rent is a little more than I want to spend at the moment. The car wouldn’t start and we had to ask the landlord to give us a jump. I would be embarrassed but it has happened so much it just rolls off my back now. Really what am I going to do? We finally got word that we can get it fixed on Monday so just a few more days and it won’t be an issue.
I sit down to finish proofreading the blog and finally press publish. Yay! That’s done! Now to start the next one. Hahaha! My work is never done.
4:38pm My Piano student and his dad shows up to get his lesson. I give him an hour and he did great. Now to make dinner.
5:15pm I started Harmonie’s dinner while my student continues to play.
5:38pm My student’s lesson is done and I’m off to the kitchen to get dinner finished.
6:00pm I sit down to write the blog and check in on my own school work and grab the phone to call my business partner in Boston. Tonight is our night to check in and talk about business. She’s busy so we hang up and I go back to work while I wait for her call.
Harmonie is done with her dinner so I make her do her reading for the night, IXL Math and study her Spelling words for her test tomorrow.
6:30pm My business partner calls and we talk about business and school.
7:00pm I go back to working on my the computer and I get another phone call. I talk for awhile and try to work.
8:00pm Bedtime….Kiss, kiss, kiss! Hug, hug, hug! Good night Little Miss Muffet. Until tomorrow.
9:30pm While working my computer just shuts itself down, for no apparent reason. When it rebooted it was a grey screen and in the center was a file with a ? flashing at me. My heart stopped beating. My computer can’t be dead. I forced a shut down and rebooted. I prayed that it would work. I was pretty nervous. Chime! I stare at the screen anxiously waiting. Grey screen! “Blink to blue! Blink to blue!” Ugh the anticipation. Wait! Blink! Blink! Blue! Thank you sweet Baby Jesus! The computer is OK. I take a sigh of relief and immediately pull out my external hard drive and start transferring things to make a backup. I haven’t done one in awhile.
9:50pm I pop open my email and notice Harmonie’s school emailed me. It’s her final grades for the first quarter. As I am marveling at all the A’s she walks past the room proclaiming she’s going to the bathroom. I call her over and show her all of her grades and the grades on her test and book report. She was so amazed and so happy. My funny child told me to send a copy to her former Catholic school that blacklisted her, labeled her emotionally disturbed and said she needed to be retained, not because it was fact. It wasn’t fact at all. They said it to get back at me. They lied! Yes it happens people. I had to laugh at Harmonie because her exact words were, “Send them a copy and show them who’s boss!” Well now! What do you say when your child says that? Absolutely nothing.
I send her off to bed after a lot of praise and a traditional high five and kiss on the head, then go back to the blog.
10:00pm I turn on Netflix and start a movie called “Duress” while I finish with this post. I have to say it was a pleasant surprise. You should check it out if you have Netflix. If you do check it out shoot me a message and tell me if you would do what this man has done.
11:22pm Mobwives is on. Yay! I can watch that while I finish up.
12:03am Done with this blog and off to bed I go.
How do you like this blog? Is it helping you to see that you are not alone in the busy home school game? Tell me your thoughts.
