Welcome to my new blog. My name is Kay and I will be bringing you on my journey of being a scheduled filled single homeschooling mom. I was recently reading another homeschooling blog and a mom posted a comment that she has looked all around for a blog that spoke about how mom’s with no help were handling the task of homeschooling. After reading her comment I thought to myself I could start one. I mean really, when it comes to extreme situations in life and homeschooling I am your mom.
I have an eight year old daughter. She is a ray of sunshine and a royal pain in my butt but I love her. She is a very smart cookie and super talented. Not because I’m her mom but because it’s true. This is our first year homeschooling. We’ve had a pretty rough couple of years and now we are inbarking on this wonderful adventure.
A short history lesson. I teach dance and piano for a living. I choreograph for show choirs and I am mom-mager to my daughter who is a child actress/model. Yes, all that! But I’m not quite done. I home school my cutie pie and am working on my MBA in Business Administration focusing on Entreprenuership. Wait there is still more. I am currently starting two new businesses while rebuilding my original business which is a mobile performing arts center. Swoooo! My husband passed away almost two years ago. I have been homeless with my daughter three times. Homeless in the since that we lived in my Piano studio, with friends, with my brother and in a motel. Three separate times in the two years since he got sick and then passed away. Going from a two income family to a single income was a huge adjustment as it has been for countless others but we have survived and keep pushing forward.
With all of this being said I think I am a good candiate to chronicle our daily life as a new and someday old homeschool family for all of you out there that don’t make enough money to have mommy helpers, tutors or any other assistance from others. I have no assistance at all with any of the following activities. I don’t have babysitters. I don’t have family to take some of the heavy load and though I have a boyfriend he is away working most of the time so I am on my own in this adventure. I often get tired. I sometimes am cranky. I sometimes feel overwhelmed but I have to tell you as far as I am concerned it’s all worth it.
I promise each and everyone of you that as we go along I will be completely honest with you on whatever is going on. I will give you the good, bad and the absolute ugly of it all. It is my hope that this blog brings you comfort, solice, laughter, inspiration and validation. I hope that you can find that you are not the only one out there. I also hope that through your comments we all can help each other to do the absolute best we can at this homeschooling parenting thing. Parents need to stick together. This parenting thing isn’t easy especially when you are single and have financial wooos. This blog is for everyone. Not just the single parents. I hope that we can all learn from each other.
Welcome again to my blog and I hope that you find a moment of peace in your day!
