5th Grade Begins

October 8, 2015 by Kay 1 Comment

Well, we have all been back in business for at least a month now. How is the new school year going for all of you? We have made some changes to our homeschool environment to make things a little more functional and easy to deal with like adding a new iMac and Macbook Pro to our little family of technology.image

I have to say the fifth grade looks bright but super busy. There is definitely more
work to be done in the fifth grade. We just received our favorite box of books from school a couple of weeks ago. Our book delivery is like an early Christmas in our house. We get so excited to see that big box filled with school books for the year. Who knew a family could be so excited about receiving a yearly curriculum? I just like the new shiny books and that new book smell. LOL!

As I am always honest with all of you loyal readers, I have to admit I was not the best homeschool mom this past year. I slacked a great deal. Harmonie was given the entire month of December off so I could focus on my finance class that was kicking my scholastic butt. Then we took a week vacation to Tulare to hang out with my cousin and my nieces and nephews.image We were expecting a new baby back then. Then shortly after that, about a week or two to be exact, my brother passed and we took two weeks off for that. There were other times when a day or two were taken off and before we knew it, it was summer and we were swamped with swim and dive practice. We worked through that time, however, we are still a bit behind.

So, as we do in our house when we don’t do what we are supposed to, we take responsibility and fix the problem. We have decided to double up to catch up. We are not a year behind, but we are behind enough for it to be a big deal to me.

Sometimes in homeschooling you have to just suck it up
and keep it moving. This is the great thing about homeschooling. You have the freedom to do what you have to do to get done what you need to get done.

How has the new year been going for you? Are you where you want to be or has this year begun to fall apart for you already? Let’s chat about it!
